Epsom Physio - Home Visit Orthopaedic Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation

Aquian Orthopaedic Physio and Rehab runs an at home, community based, service in and around Epsom, Banstead, Cheam and Ewell. With the thriving town of Epsom as ur base, with major NHS and private hospitals like Epsom General, Ashstead, St Anthony’s and the Royal Marsden on our doorstep, we are well placed to serve your physio and rehab needs. Through our core step down hospital offering for both pre and post orthopaedic rehab and physio, typically following an elective or trauma surgery around major joints such as hips, knees and shoulders.

The team, including Steve, Chrissie and Emma have over decades built some specialist areas of physio treatment including the specialisation of knee, hip and back pain issues. He has also developed some proprietary functional physio-led sporting rehab programmes to ensure peak performance through positional movement rehab working with sports rehab therapists, sports therapists and coaches.

This means our team of Physio and Rehab specialists, specialise not just in orthopaedics but in sports injuries, but cater for all sporting injuries as well as extend through the team to general, clinical physio treatments.

However, as in other areas we serve and given the strong presence of NHS hospitals, the demand for self pay has increased due to the lack of available NHS community physios in the Epsom, Ewell, Banstead, Cheam and Ashtead areas. This service gap has provide Aquian with the opportunity to serve these communities and we have steadily been grown our presence and services in the area. We now treat patients across the age spectrum from elderly patients who are looking to maximise their movement and to prevent and sustain further challenges they may face with arthritic pain to sports injuries in children. Increasingly this has also involved more patients who continue to overcome complex conditions such as Parkinson’s and long Covid.

In all that we do and given our sporting and orthopaedic heritages we also now draw on leading movement, sports science techniques and technology (like a Compex muscle stimulator) into supporting all ages suffering with joint pain, sports injuries and soft tissue therapeutic needs all in the Epsom and surrounding areas.

Sports Injury Epsom

How Aquian Will Support You At Home In Epsom

SPORTS REHABILITATION

At Aquian, our main aim is to help you return to your pre-injury level or higher. We are able to do this by providing a full assessment and creating a rehabilitation programme that is specialised to your injury, and will establish a unique return to play pathway in the safest and quickest way possible. We also create a ‘prehabilitation’ programme with you which can help reduce the risk of re-injury and can allow athletes to play an active role in their recovery process.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Whether you’re suffering from an acute or chronic injury, our experienced physiotherapists are here to help. We provide a range of sport based and exercise services such as physio led pilates, hydrotherapy training and/or treatment sessions, and fitness plans. Our team will work closely with you to achieve your recovery goals and can guide you on other areas of rehab specialisation that might be needed, eg surgery if required.

SOFT TISSUE THERAPY

Soft tissue therapy can benefit any athlete. We can offer soft tissue therapy for specific injuries, or for ongoing performance maintenance in order to prevent re-injury, through our high-quality treatment sessions. Our soft tissue therapy incorporates a variety of techniques such as deep/soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques, trigger points and assisted stretching etc.

The Importance Of Sports Injury Rehabilitation

Sports injuries occur when we least desire them and often when we are close to achieving our sporting goals. At Aquian we help athletes of all abilities return to their sport by creating an individualised care pathway, that will help you recover from the initial injury through to your return to play.

Our specialist team will work closely with you to help achieve your sports rehabilitation goals, by providing psychological and physiological support throughout your recovery process. Getting You Moving.

Keeping You Moving. At Aquian, we take a whole-person approach to all joint and muscle pain across all areas from backs and necks; hip and knee joint pain to ligament and muscle strains. We recognise that the most basic level, ongoing daily life puts pressure and strain on muscles, puts us in positions that impact our soft tissues and bone structures, which when fatigued places pressure on our musculoskeletal structure.

This results in what we all feel as aches and pains in number of musculoskeletal areas. Through COVID and home working alone, and society adopting a more sedentary lifestyle, there is now documented evidence of a significant increase in back related muscle and joint pain.

The importance of prerehabilitation

It’s clinically evidenced that starting your rehab before surgery is critical achieving optimal recovery. Muscles and movement can be severely compromised after years of joint pain. A regime to help increase the range and flexion around joints or increasing strength in other areas of your body will help your recovery.

Now you can receive all the support you need to prepare and make sure you have all the comfort you need within your own home in Epsom and surroundings areas

The Importance Of Rehabilitation After Surgery Or Trauma

Many patients struggle physically and mentally with how they are going to cope when discharged from hospital. Having received great care in the hands of surgeons and nurses it can be daunting when you return home. Many patients are concerned about how they will cope with day-to-day activities, manage residual pain, how much exercise they should be doing and at what stage.

Getting the right support, advice and treatment from a clinical specialist physio as soon as you get home is critical to ensuring you improve joint mobility, strengthen muscles, reduce swelling and mentally help you pace your recovery to regain the movement you need to live your daily life.

Post-op Epsom

How Aquian Will Support You at home in Epsom

Post-operative appointments are arranged from the day after you get home so there’s no waiting for treatment to start and no loss of momentum in the crucial, early stage of your recovery.

Our clinical specialist orthopaedic physiotherapists will assess and guide you on treatment and medication to support your recovery.

We’ll work with your surgeon to development a treatment plan unique to you to ensure your optimal recovery. Having worked with many leading surgeons in the area, we recognise approaches to rehabilitation may differ.

Epsom Location

Care

Rehabilitation doesn’t necessarily end once your short-term objectives have been met, such as improving range of movement or muscle activation.
To help you maintain maximum movement and deliver longer term benefits it’s important to continue rehabilitation such as taking regular exercise, stretching and strengthening activity.
Aquian offers a range of sevices to support you on this journey to help you feel better, for longer. We’ll always just be one phone call away.

Treat

During all of our visits, we’ll review your progress including pain & swelling management strategies, measure joint & muscle function, and observe gait and functional tasks.
We’ll support you to perform to the level of function that will ultimately give you the mobility needed for daily life.
Together, we’ll set achievable goals to progress your recovery at a pace that ensures you steadily improve.
Regardless of your condition, your safety and comfort are paramount, so you’ll have access to all the support we can offer.

Assess

On our first visit we’ll get an understanding of what you’ve been through, what you want to achieve and discuss what treatment might involve. We’ll answer any questions or concerns you have.
For those awaiting surgery, treatments will include any pre-operative sessions and most importantly a plan for the care you might need when you are discharged from hospital.
